Question #48

What are some good questions to ask during an interview?
— LS

Dear LS,

I love this question, and I have a few different approaches to answering it.

For the people you are meeting with:

  • How will I be working with you in this role?

  • What changes have you seen in the organization since you’ve been here?

  • What is something that surprised you about your experience here?

About the role itself:

  • What does success look like in this role?

  • How do you anticipate this role changing over time?

  • If it’s a brand new role: how does adding this position change the way things work here?

  • If you’re replacing someone: what are you hoping the next person in this role will bring?

About the team/organization:

  • What has been a recent “win: for the team/organization?

  • How has the organization grown/changed over the past five years?

  • How would this role impact changes in the next five years?
