“Do you have any mantras or affirmations that you say to yourself?”
Dear ME,
You know, I thought that the answer to this question would be no, since I’m not the type of person who has conversations with herself in the mirror, or writes affirmations on sticky notes so that they stay in view. But actually, there are some words that I repeat to myself pretty often.
When I’m feeling like I don’t belong somewhere:
“I am not for everyone, and that is okay.”
When I’m feeling exhausted but I haven’t finished everything on my to-do list:
”I don’t have to finish my work in order to deserve rest.”
When I feel like I don’t have the right clothes/hair/style etc:
”I like the way I look. It’s okay for me to be different.”
When I have a bad, or disappointing, or stressful day:
”Tomorrow is another day.” (This one is from my mom!)
When I find myself putting too many things on my plate:
”Just because I can, doesn’t mean that I should.”
