“Where do you find inspiration?”
Dear G,
Inspiration is everywhere, but you may need to open yourself to it. I find inspiration during the times when I am fully present in my life, so I’ve tried to make sure that I’m fully present as much as possible.
I notice sounds around me, and stop to look at and appreciate beauty when I see it. I spend time in silence so that I’m not constantly drowning in noise. I read a lot, because it’s the way I take in information best. I nurture my relationships with others so that I am wrapped in community.
All of these set me up to be inspired: by the world around me, by the amazing people in my life, by the new ideas and ways of navigating the world that I constantly experience.
As you look for inspiration, consider what brings you joy, where do you feel safe, and with whom you feel most yourself. Give yourself space to follow a train of thought all the way to wherever it ends up, asking yourself questions to switch lines along the way.
