Question #14
“What are three books every woman should read before 30?”
Dear W,
I have three kinds of books that you should read and treasure before you turn 30, and I’ll give you some of my favorite examples of each.
A fiction book where you see elements of the woman you have become, or the woman you are becoming
Some of my faves that fit this category are:
Their Eyes were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Bring on the Blessings by Beverly Jenkins
A personal finance book that speaks to your current financial goals and needs
Some of my faves that fit this category are:
Get Good with Money by Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche
Women with Money by Jean Chatzky
What Matters Most by Chanel Reynolds
A non-fiction book that you can get something new from every time you read it.
Some of my faves that fit in this category are":
Soft Magic by Upile Chisala
Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed
Thick & other essays by Tressie McMillan Cottom
Maybe there are books on this list that are perfect for you, or maybe you’ll still need to find them after reading this post. Start with one category, and ask people in your life for recommendations for where you might start.
Also, if you’re already past 30, what are the books that you treasure that fit these categories? If you don’t have them, it’s not too late to find these books for your own life too.
