Big Sister Advice #11
Starting this year, in addition to the Q & A, I’ll offer you some general words of wisdom, or stuff to think about, as you find helpful.
On Getting & Staying Organized
I’ve said this in various ways before, but the best way to get/stay organized is the way that works for you. Bear this in mind as you read on!
Here are some things to think about as you try to get your life in order:
Don’t try to organize everything at once. It can be tempting to pull everything out of everywhere and try to completely organize your entire life. Sometimes that can be great, but if you have limited time or a lot of space, you might not be able to do it all at once, and the in-between phase can be even more overwhelming.
Create a system. All of the organizing girlies (gender neutral) say this one thing: it’s easier to get and stay organized when everything has a place. Take some time to figure out what the place is for everything as you organized a drawer/closet/room.
Organize your life in themes. Break the process down into digestible pieces. So take a day to organize your closet, or bathroom, or pantry. Choose themes that make sense for you, so it could be: folding clothes, organizing by color, emptying and repacking, getting your finances together.
