Question #46
Dear RT,
Freedom is such a big thing, that I had to think about this for a minute.
I think my thirties have been the time in my life where I’ve had a sustained feeling of freedom. I have enough money and enough time to do most of the things I want to do. I feel the most comfortable with myself as a person, both in my body, and also with my personality. I want to talk a bit about how I got here though.
I spent a lot of my twenties exploring careers and working through a lot of career development information. I tried on different kinds of jobs, and I learned how to negotiate salaries and benefits. This gave me the experience and tactical knowledge to both get to the place that I am now, and to know that I’m in a good place.
Speaking of that knowing, I also spent a lot of time in my early adulthood getting to know myself. I worked on changing destructive thought patterns, and defining the kind of life and relationships that I want to have in my life.
All of these things together really helped my build a life that I generally love, and that always feels like it’s mine.
Maybe this will be a good process to help you get to a point in a life where you feel free too.
