“How do I find my niche and market myself without ego?”
Dear BR,
Ego is not bad. You can’t have self-awareness or self-promotion without ego, and you need the former to find your niche and the latter to market yourself.
I think some reflection could be a good tool to help you on your search for an answer here, by looking at some patterns and preferences.
What do you enjoy doing?
What topics in your field are you most passionate about?
What would you try if you were not afraid?
What problem would you solve if you had unlimited resources?
What are your unique gifts and talents?
When you think of your work, who do you want it to impact the most?
Where/when have you said, “I wish x existed?”
When you think of the future version of yourself, what comes to mind in the best version of your life?
Once you’ve answered a few of those questions (as many as you’d like to), take a look at what patterns emerge. How could you combine your strengths and interests? Who are you most interested in reaching with your work?
