Question #39
“You asked us this as a weekly gem a while ago, but I want to ask you: What are you proud of yourself for right now?”
Dear LP,
Oh wow…I needed to think about this for a second. There are some things that come to mind right away, but I really wanted to consider it for a bit. Here are three things I’m proud of myself for right now:
I’m proud of myself for leaning into my type A personality a lot more over the past couple of years. I like having information and I like making sure that others have information. It makes me great at event planning, and it reminds me that I ask questions about details because I’m taking things seriously, and that includes spending time with my friends, volunteering, and doing my job.
I’m proud of myself for learning to be comfortable saying that I don’t know. I used to feel like not knowing something was a weakness so I’d be afraid to say that I didn’t know what someone was talking about, especially when it seemed like it was “common knowledge”. Now I approach things that I don’t know as an opportunity to learn something new, and give someone the chance to educate me. Much better overall for my mental health, and for my relationships with others.
I’m proud of myself for figuring out a workout routine. I hate working out, all the time, in every way. But I figured out what works for me, both in terms of the kinds of workouts that I do (35 minutes or less, with weights, or a dance class of any length) and in terms of my workout goals (have a resting heart rate between 60-70, have my waist be 1/2 of my height)
Have you thought about at least one thing that you’re proud of yourself for right now? Or maybe a category of things?
